    What is Deep Central Neck Lift?

    Deep central neck lift is a surgical procedure performed in the midline of the neck to eliminate the appearance of a double chin. This procedure is specifically designed for individuals who have developed a double chin, not necessarily as a result of the aging face syndrome, but rather due to other factors, often seen in younger age groups.

    Procedure Details:

    • Unlike a traditional facelift, the deep central neck lift does not involve an incision around the ear.
    • Instead, a single incision is made under the chin.
    • The platysma muscle in the midline of the neck is then tightened (platysma plasty).
    • The deep muscles beneath the platysma (digastric muscles) and the subplatysmal fat tissue are also addressed.
    • The subplatysmal fat is usually excised, the deep muscles are often shaved to reduce their size, and the submandibular salivary glands are examined.
    • If the submandibular glands are located lower than they should be (sagged) or are larger than normal, contributing to the double chin appearance, they are also carefully shaved to further reduce the double chin.

    It is important to note that if the submandibular glands are not addressed during the procedure, they may become noticeable as bulges under the chin once the neck has healed.
